Spiritual Charter for the New Work in the Queen City
Name: The King's People
Sub-title: A Movement of Churches Centered on Jesus Christ
Descriptive Motto: "Discovering the way to powerful living in Jesus Christ"
Explanation for our Model: Our approach is based on two convictions. First, we need a revolution in the church of Jesus Christ, a paradigm shift, to build the house in which God dwells. Second, the Spirit is saying the time for that paradigm shift is now.
Mission: To establish the life-giving power of God’s Kingdom in people’s lives and our city through the gospel, biblical wisdom, house churches, Spirit-filled living, and a new breed of Kingdom influencers.
Our Three Core Kingdom Values:
1. God’s Supremacy in our lives, families, and spheres of influence.
A. God’s Supremacy refers first to a Revelation of God as God in our overall vision and in corporate worship.
1)The mystery and majesty of Jesus Christ.
2)God’s Fatherhood.
3)The Holy Spirit as God’s tangible presence.
B. God’s supremacy means we live for His glory. Our culture finds its purpose and meaning in life by first pursuing God’s service, glory, and presence, not by prioritizing our individual happiness or interests.
C. God’s supremacy means we cherish Christ and Abba as the most valuable treasure.
D. God’s supremacy means total Surrender to Christ is the only reasonable response to His love and sacrifice for us. Ours is a culture of the cross.
E. God’s supremacy means Revival is our fervent expression of “God-centered” passion and our heart-cry for greater spiritual awakening.
F. God’s supremacy means that Grace is central to our community. Our lifestyle is inspired and permeated, not by works or performance, but by God’s goodness, our acceptance in Christ, and the reality that believers are a new creation.
2. Community that is a family culture of love and honor.
A. Community means Culture: We seek to cultivate our faith together as a way of life, not as a club, religion, or place for church services.
B. Community means Family: We seek to cultivate our relationships in the church as the literal, spiritual family it is, as well as to strengthen Christian families in their God-given roles.
C. Community means Youth: We seek to invest in the coming generations by mentoring and training young people in a biblical worldview, godly character, powerful living, and honor.
D. Community means Love: We seek to cultivate the fruit of the Spirit’s internal affections for God and one another, and to obey God’s command to serve and live for others intentionally, rather than to live first for ourselves.
E. Community means Honor: We seek to cultivate a life that consistently and practically values members of Christ’s body by identifying their value and treating them with esteem.
3. Restoration of bodies, hearts, relationships, finances, and nations.
A. Restoration means Life. By the Holy Spirit, we seek to restore that abundant life that God originally intended for us as humans, and that Jesus came to restore.
B. Restoration means Reconciliation as its very first step. We value mending relationships to God and people – especially receiving and giving forgiveness for all sins – in order to build the foundation for restoration.
C. Restoration means Healing and Deliverance. Wherever God rules, there is shalom – total wellbeing. We seek to advance the Kingdom of God by bringing God’s shalom to people through physical and emotional healing as testimony to Christ’s Lordship in their lives and over all things.
D. Restoration means Wisdom. We teach biblical principles that apply God’s ways about motives, attitudes, behavior, relationships, and finances so that people will experience spiritual wholeness in every area of life.
E. Restoration means Prophecy. We seek to cultivate prophecy as a way of life that edifies the saints and brings God’s presence to unbelievers.
F. Restoration means Hope. We are an “eschatological” culture, looking for and living in light of Christ’s glorious return, as well as the last days immediately preceding that return.
Our Vision:
The transformation of our city, other cities, our nation, and other nations through the gospel of Jesus Christ by:
1. Impacting culture with the gospel. We seek our city’s wellbeing through power evangelism, service, generosity, and penetrating its structures with godly influence.
2. Planting house churches. We see “churches” as smaller units based in homes or styled after families throughout a city for growth, evangelism, and leadership development.
3. Holding dynamic citywide meetings. We also see the smaller churches as parts of a larger federation, or “tribe,” of house churches that relate to our apostolic leadership and meet weekly or bi-weekly in a corporate setting.
4. Providing materials to help people to live powerfully in Christ. Our goal is to provide relationships, conferences, classes, and writings that will edify and equip the saints outside our sphere.
5. Creating a paradigm for other city churches. We want to help change the identity of the church by offering a model that is more biblical than the default models, and that works.
6. Establishing a house of prayer. Both as a lifestyle, and as meetings in dedicated space.
7. Holding “Schools of Wisdom.” These classes will equip the saints for Kingdom leadership and influence: discipleship, family, business, arts and entertainment, media, government, and education.
8. Supporting missions work to Israel and the nations. The international mission is an important part of our identity through prayer, finances, and traveling ministry.
Operative Environment:
1. Apostolic in foundation and design – Environment created by the functioning of the five-ministries, led by apostolic and prophetic leadership, and managed by elders and deacons.
2. Relational in essence and practice – Loving, supportive, and powerful family-based and family-styled house churches throughout the city, as well as dynamic corporate meetings weekly.
